B-Floor-Rehearsal-Robin-actor-ThailandI am currently working with B-Floor on their re-staging of “The Other Land”. Working with B-Floor is intensely challenging on a physical level. You have to be in top shape to be able to do all the moves, jumps, rolls, dashes, limps, slow-motion, high-speed, up, down, round abouts that will make this show so visually impressive.

Ever since having seen B-Floor the first time it was my dream to be performing with them on stage. This is the second time that B-Floor has invited me to work with them and I am immensely proud to join their production for the second time.

I prepared myself by going to the gym 3 months before the start of the rehearsals to get my body into shape. While I gained strength and stamina doing that I lost out on flexibility. Again, I’m trying to catch up. And even after 3 months of spending 2-3 hours in the gym every day, working with B-Floor leaves my body sore and bruised. There is nothing better than going to bed with a feeling of having accomplished something and I have this feeling every night after the rehearsal.

We have an amazing cast from all different areas of theatre. With every day passing I feel closer to the other cast members. This is what I love about theatre and what I think theatre should be all about.

I hope to see you there:

Here is the official press release:

B-Floor Theatre restages a contemporary performance based on a 1996 S.E.A.-Write work “The Other Land”The-Other-Land-Poster

”The Other Land” was praised by the S.E.A. Write judges in 1996 as ‘stories of literary value and delicate presentation, allowing freedom of imagination in its readers.” The work by Kanokphong Songsomphan, an author who devoted his life to writing until its last minute, inspired B-Floor Theatre to create a contemporary performance in 2008. Selected short stories from the collection: “On Coliseum Street, “Homeland,” and “The Cat of Bu Kre Krue Saw,” were woven together and retold to reflect social conflicts at the time. “Everyone loves their country, so why are they fighting?“

Directed by Teerawat Mulvilai, the director of “Flu-Fool” and “Oxygen.” “The Other Land” will be performed (with English surtitles) as part of Diverse Arts Festival by the Pridi Banomyong Institute Date: 5th-7th and 12th-14th October, 2012 at 8pm, with a matinee performance on Saturday 6th October at 2pm and a post-show discussion with the director, activists and artists from the South.
